Editor’s note: Paul wrote to comment on Erin’s emotional involvement with Mahler 8. This work and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony were the works that she performed most often in concert.

I was so moved by Erin's emotional reaction to Mahler's 8th Symphony. The video of this is on YouTube called "A Universe of Sound" with the San Francisco Symphony and Michael Tilson Thomas.

I have all the recordings of Mahler 8 that she was such a vital part of. She was unafraid to show her emotions, and was certainly true of her singing.

She is greatly missed.
