“Let us cast off the works of darkness… and take up the armour of light!” Noble and uplifting, Mendelssohn’s Hymn of Praise is his most ambitious symphonic work, following in the tradition of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Together with Beethoven’s heroic “Emperor” Piano Concerto, the evening proclaims a blazing musical vision of faith and humanity.
